Guest guest
Joe, Your saga sounds like my journey. The oral meds worked for several years 1995-99 but lost effectiveness. Additionally the sideeffects of the oral meds made my life miserable. In 3/99 went on MDI (Multipal Daily Injections) and had some success in getting BGL's under control (a1c from 14+ to 7.5). The NPH was causing a real problem for me with the variance in the peak. Being in IT I can not drop a problem and go eat ............... This caused me to have severe lows and those take 3-5 hours to recover mentaly. On 11/16/1999 I went to Insulin Pump Therapy and I will never go back to MDI and long acting insulins. Pumping is not for everyone, however I will give up pumping only when there is a real cure. Since being on a pump I have had only 2 lows and both were of my making. I have again found what it was like being hungry and being able to eat because I wasn't & not because I have to. Because I was no longer chasing insulin with food my weight is now under 195# (was 230# while under MDI & 210# befor MDI). Re: [alldiabeticinternational] One Month New Type 2 Diabetic Mittensdf, The only medicine I know that has worked for me, and me only is Insulin Therapy. I have had no side effects to it. I¹ve been a type 2 diabetic since 1999. Started on pill therapy, and ran the gamut from Avandia, Metformin, Glucovance, and some of them worked for a while and brought my levels down. But if I got sick or stressed or something changed, my glucose would go out of control and they would just up the dosage. I asked to be put on Insulin, because I was tired of the side effects from the meds. Again for myself only, Insulin therapy has been fantastic. Guest guest
Vern, I¹m on 3 shots a day and plan on going onto Pump Therapy. The funny thing is because my Hbac¹s are normal, if I had Insurance, my Endo told me that Insurance would question pump therapy. But since I have no insurance, I¹m planning on going on Pump Therapy. So wish me luck on that journey. :0-) Joe BB Reply-To: alldiabeticinternational Date: Tue, 6 Jul 2004 08:45:40 -0400 To: alldiabeticinternational > Subject: [alldiabeticinternational] Joe your saga & meds Joe, Your saga sounds like my journey.
