......I DO NOT OBSESS about my disease or my eating....My diabetes is under

control and as I continue to exercise and lose weight, I continue to lower my

Insulin dosages. My suggestion....Get a book on carbohydrates or the Glycemic

Index. Listen to your Endocrinologist or your diabetes Educator and/or

Dietician.....and my best advice is if you can afford it, or have insurance, see

a

Lipids manager at the Cardiology Department of your clinic/hospital for a full

lipids scan......They will tell you everything you ever desired to know about

cholesterol and carbohydrates. Just remember that you are solely responsible for

your meal plan....rarely are there two alike...I can eat pasta, carrots, and

rice and they do not have much effect on my Bg's,,,,,But I am sure they may

raise havoc with my fats.....

I agree with you about learning the GI. It is easily found at

Mendosa@... and you do not have to even buy t. Carb counters are also

out there,

but it is nice to have one in your purse or posket if you eat out much. O

know not everyone is able to afford the test strips they need to do the amount

of

testing it takes to really know what sets your BG's off, but as you say, it

is different for everybody! We must all understand that. Several years ago, a

diabetics life was hell. They were not sure what they could eat. They had

no way to test to see what the 2 hour after meals was or the before meal for

the difference. Today, with the home test kits, we are so fortunate! I am so

please when someone posts that they are understanding there is life after

diabetes diagnosis, because there is. If your A1c's are good, you do not have

to

obsess about every bite you put in your mouth. Just use common sense, be

moderate and live well! Hugs, Marilyn
