Guest guest
I use Lantus and asked the Pharmacist about it when older than 30 days. He said that if it is not refrigerated then 30 days should be max, for two different reasons, the possible introduction of bacteria growth and the effectiveness of the insulin staying stable. if if is kept in a cool environment you can usually let it extend to an additional couple of weeks. always check for clumps and anything irregular in insulin, also if blood sugars are not as well controlled, open a new bottle. I have been on Lantus for several years now and love the flexability and control it allows me. I have stopped having the big higs and low lows. I can eat my meals with more flexability and types of food also. I suppliment with humalog before meals. so if I am not hungry I can delay my eating times and amounts. cool beans huh? Type 2 since 85, living til the cure.
Guest guest
I am on Lantus and first time insulin user. Does anyone know the max the dr will take me to before giving me a different kind ? I am already at 25 units. My dr appt is not until later this month, figured I would ask before going or bugging him about it. Thanks Jim
