She was a diabetic the last 20 years or so of her 85 year old life, at least that was when I knew it. I think I loved her more than anyone else I know, other than of course my immediate family. She and my Mom are the supports that held life together. I can remember Grandma eating a banana with peanut butter on it for breakfast. That was her doctors idea of what was good for her. She has been gone 20 years now, and I still miss her everyday. For years I would reach for the phone to call her. Other than macular degeneration, I saw no evidence of diabetes in her body. She made wonderful blackberry cobblers and pies! And she ate them, too! Then she would cut way back on food in general to make up for it. I wish she would have had the luxury we have of being able to test and see what things actually reacted in her blood. Those bananas especially, they were everyday. I hope your Grandma did not suffer too bad with this diabetes, was it a long time ago? I hope you have a wonderful weekend, getting out to " play and enjoy life " is such a wonderful reward for all be go through all week long, isn't it?
