We need to be prepared to loose our utilities at any time. Hurrican season has just started here so it is my time to mine the depts of the freezer. I empty and clean the freezer, (so it at least gets done once per year). I save gallon containers, usually milk containers, rinse them out good, fill with water and a splash of bleach. Then when I have the freezer clean I refill those jugs with water and lay them on the bottom of the freezer. In this it is very important to leave space for expansion. Then I refill the freezer in some order as by this time order has long been gone. If we loose the utilities for a few days the freezer has a much better chance for staying cold. And if worst comes to worst I have water. I put a couple jugs on the top so that I can make one quick grab and get them to use the water. I also try to put one jug in the freezer of the refridgerator. Betty
