Hello to everyone!

I was diagnosed alittle over a month ago. Been trying to obtain as

much knowledge as possible. I start my first diabetic class tomorrow

evening. Trying very hard to eat right and change the bad habits.

Level has been 140's to 170's without medication.

I was started on metformin and had diareahea for two weeks. Second

med was Avandia which caused face to break out badly and swelling.

The third med I am supposed to take is Amaryn. I started out with a

good attitude to lose weight and get control of this, but now I am so

depressed and have much anxiety. I am afraid of the meds and the

side affects. The doctor did have me on 2 500mg of metformin which

he admitted may have been too much. I weight around 240 lbs. and

know I must lose the weight, eat right and take med.

There has been allot of stress in my life for the past ten years and

dealing with depression and anxiety has been hard.

Is there any diabetic medicine that does not have severe side

affects? I also have to learn how to count the carbs and watch the

blood pressure. My blood pressure med was cut in half as I have lost

some weight.

Thank you for inviting me to the group and I hope to learn from all

of you how you manage this disease. Right now, I am thoroughly

confused and want to get back to the good attitude.

Thank you for listening. Copied some recipes. I haven't been a cook

for years as the hubby is the great cook in the family. :)
