Guest guest
Pumping my prospective: I was diagnosed with type 2 in March 1995 and controlled with oral meds, diet, and exercise. By March 1999 oral meds no longer had any effect and with an a1c of 14+ I started MDI. On MDI I did get my a1c down to 7.5 and that was the good news. The bad news was the insulin roller coaster because of the NPH. My BGL was really giving me fits and was fighting 4 to 6 low BGL's per week. Additional problem was a weight gain due to chasing insulin with food. Working computer system support with a " hard " schedule was killing me. 11/16/1999 I started on Pump Therapy with a MM 507c. Within no time I was feeling great and no lows. I found what it feels like to be hungry and be on a real life schedule. I lost the 20# gained from 3/99 to 11/99. Found that I like eating when hungry and sleeping in. In October 2003 my MM507c went out of warrantee and I started using a Deltec Cozmos pump. In short: I will not give up my pump until there is a real cure. What ever pump you choose is great. Pumps are a personal decision. Pumping does require work and diligence. As with everything YMMV (Your Mileage May Vary).
