thanks for sharing that. Does England do this for everyone? How

about all the other countries? Something needs to change in the

states before long.

Yes, in England health care is completely covered by the government. You pay

for it through your taxes. It covers everyone, even if you are unemployed.

You pay about 5pounds for a perscription. When you have a chronic condition

like diabetes your perscriptions are free. It is a pretty good system in that

nobody is left without necessary medical care. It has its faults, you have

longer waits for certain things but you will eventually get the treatment you

need. I don't think we pay any less in taxes over here so I don't know why we

can't take better care of our people's medical needs. I guess the insurance

companies and drug companies want to keep things just like they are so they can

keep bringing in huge profits.

Just a small - but important! - point; for those with diabetes, the

prescriptions are only free if the condition is being controlled by medicine

and/or insulin so, although lancets and test strips are available on

prescription, someone controlling their diabetes by diet and exercise alone

would have to pay for that prescription.

That is still wonderful but thanks for clarifying. In this country a type

one, insulin dependant, has no state/federal help. We are left to self paying or

desperatly finding insurance which can't always be obtained. I certainly hope

our health care system changes! On this not I have a question, what is the

situation with stem cell research oversees? Are there any progresses in treating

diabetics?

Here in the US we could stand to have better Health Care... and help for those

who are Diabetic and on Medicare needing to find a Good internalist. I do not

know about anyone else, but here in the state of WA or at least Seattle area, it

is hard to find someone who can help... Which is a shame. What is it going to

take? People dying left and right of things that should be cureable with a

decent doctor, or availability of Prescription coverage?

NY isn't much better. My mom and dad pay out more than what they get in a week

and a half to keep my dad's heart going and her blood pressure down with

" Insurance " . And medicare... hahahaha!!!!!! what a joke. I went to use mine

to get my diabetic supplies, and they denied them! I've been on medicare for

7and a half years. I know I'm young, but I've been disabled for 12 yrs, on

social security for 9 and half years. Any ideas why? I'm not on meds yet....

only because my dr fudged up. Now he's on vacation, and I'm dealing with highs

ranging from normals to 238... not super high, but high enough I feel like crap.

He's off for another 10 days. I don't see him until 9-7.

Have a great one.
