Cathy,

The MDA clinic I'm going to is at Hinsdale Hospital, which isn't to far from

joliet where I live. The number to call . If you call right

away, they may be able to get your son in on Feb. 16, which is the third Wed.

of the month. Every other month they see children and the opposite months

they see adults. Hope you get in for Feb. and more importantly have some

good results.

In case you are interested, I thought it might be a good idea to get together

with other CMTers in the area just to talk in person. I talked with Amy (Hey

Amy, are you reading this!) who is also from northern Indiana and that's when

I got the idea. Are you interested? Also anyone else within earshot!

Hello Larry,

Cathy here, You say you are in the Chicago area can you tell me where

the MDA is where you are going? My daughter lives in Portage Ind and

needs to take my Grandson. The Doctor we have at the present has him on

zarontin for siezures and he has been on this for almost 2 yrs. She

wants to take him off but Dr. doesnt't want to. He has CMT1A and had a

focal siezure 1 time and never since but we need other medical opinions

on this plus my grandson was put back a grade not so much due to his

intellctual ability he is a very smart child, but for being (school

says) slow as far as his physical condition(hopping, skipping,

hand coordination ability to tie his shoes things in this respect). I

personally feel they held him back a grade by discriminating against

him. They gave my daughter a hard time about this when she argued with

them about it. It was THEIR WAY or NO WAY. She told them about the CMT

but they just don't seem to care. We are in Indiana and the School

system needs to definatly become more educated here about CMT. I am 46

yrs old and had one heck of a time in school and I don't want to see my

grandson go through what I did.

Hey Amy, we are in Indian also, how many other Hoosiers do we have on the

list.

I asked awhile back if any one had experience with the department education

and rehabilitation services, well I do now and what a smart move it was to

contact them I must say, it looks as though I will be going back to college

in the spring/summer for engineering degree, I recommend them to anyone who

needs retaining TONY

Rach, I live 30 miles north of London.

, On the bulletin board above the computer I have

the English bs numbers and their American

counterparts. It's easier this way.

I have an American Accu-chek and an English OneTouch

Ultra. When I showed the diabetic nurse today my

little log she paled and asked what are these numbers?

156 was one of them, which with the English meter was

about 8.4, which was fine.

I had to explain that the nasty GP made a mistake with

my prescription for testing strips so I had to use my

American version. She gasped and said, but you can't

use the American ones with the English meters. I

explained that I did have an American meter. She hit

me. lol

Should I get everyone's blood boiling?? My GP inferred

that the dawn phenomena that I experience is all my

fault due to the junk I eat at night. That upset me. I

don't eat after supper!

I did get a lecture on how since I am a type 2 I

should only test myself once a day. All I could think

of was 'yeah right'. I think that she knew what I was

thinking. lol

So I will try fruit and brown bread and see how it

goes.

It's almost 11:30pm I bid you all a good night.

ok, i lie. i've been a little north of london. my mum rented a house

in a suburb north of london once. amstead, i think it was. no idea

how far out it was, though. am very bad about those things. and in

case, child that i was, i kept hopping trains back to sussex to be

with my friends...lol!

that would make me mad too. my endo gave me the funny look and

quizzed me for having a bedtime snack, which i do do, but i know

what i need. actually, my general practictioner of her own accord is

going to write a letter to my specialists because they are pretty

arrogant and have made assumptions without looking at my history.

don't let 'em get away with it!

thing and i know i don't know enough to cut down on the testing.

Who is Mendosa?

, I liked Accucheck a lot, but then my isurance chaged to medisense and

since i could get the meter and strips free, I use it now. Is ok.

Hi Donna,

I need to lose about 60 pounds myself. I tried a diet very close to

Adkins and could not maintain my blood sugar. The dietician at has me do 45

grams of carbs breakfast, lunch and dinner, and three small 15 mg snacks.

Also to have a small amount of protien with my meals. Her source forthe

diet was theAmerican Diabetes Association. It is equivalent to about a 1,

200 calorie diet.

Billijo,

There are days that my blood sugars follow a cycle similar to what

yours are doing? Do you exercise and at what time during the day?
