For instance last Friday I got up at 5 am and was at diabetes classes all day, and did not get to sleep until 1am saturday. So anyone would be tired, but especially a diabetic like me who was in a coma last may!! Well I asked my spouse to get up when our son did at 10 am on saturday and he muttered a bunch of stuff at me to the effect of why couldnt I do it, and how I was always sick. Taht hurt like hell! I have enough issues with feeling different and sick and not able to keep up, later he said he was sorry that he was just tired but @@ like that helps it not hurt! So i wish I had advise for you other than just trying to talk to her honestly and open about how you feel, or maybe joining a support group or going to diabetes classes, the classes helped my spouse some. My other half doesn't understand my diabetes (type 1) Thinks that i have too many lows etc, when it is just an average i'm having. She critises (sp?) everything that is wrong with me, but what she does not understand is that i am more vulnerable to things (eg catching a cold more easily, being sick for longer then most people) because of having diabetes and it hurts me and feels horrible. She does know this but if there were some way of showing her that i'm not strange and these things about me ARE normal, that would be of great help. Helen Hi Helen, I would call the diabetes society and ask them to send you some " sick day " material. Then leave it lay where she may just pick it up and read it.
