Hi ,

My husband was diagnosed 1994 and has been able to stay off meds by working

out daily and watching what he eats (and when he eats it). I think they should

stress exercise more than they do. Cardio Exercise will lower the BSL

because it forces the muscles to use up the glycogen (stored sugar) and makes

them

very hungry which in turn forces them to take up sugar from the blood. Most of

his exercise is riding a bike, either outside or indoors but we also go

scooting sometimes. Have a 3 wheeled scooter called a Trikke which uses upper

body

as well as lower body. Both of us will be 60 end of this year. Sometimes

when DH has done some indescriminate eating, he works out longer and can keep

his BSL down. His morning levels are around 95-109.
