Guest guest
Although I do not consider myself hypoglycemic, the symptoms below scared the heck out of me because I am twisting back and forth through these almost on a regular basis these days. Marilyn The symptoms of " hypoglycemia " (the term we will continue to use) are many. They consist of fatigue, irritability, nervousness, depression, insomnia, flushing, impaired memory and concentration. Anxieties are common as are frontal or bitemporal headaches, dizziness, faintness or actual syncope. There is often blurring of vision, nasal congestion, ringing in the ears, numbness and tingling of the hands, feet or face. Excessive gas, abdominal cramps, loose stools or diarrhea are frequent. Many complain of leg or foot cramps. These are the chronic symptoms of the condition and are experienced even in the presence of a normal blood sugar. Guest guest
Great explanation of hypoglycemia! One of the things I have learned in the past two days with my classes is that I am hypo more than I care to admit to but now with the BG testing I can see it and know how to handle it! Glucose tablets as gross as they may seem really do work! I test my BG Mon afternoon (yes I admit I skipped lunch - a BIG no no with diabetes) and my levels dropped to 19 - while I had no syptoms per se (I felt like I always do - so know I know I have been hypo many times before) and because I was in the diabetes management class when this happened I eat 3 of those tablets and within 15 min my BG was up to 166! The scarey part of it all is that I always figured it was just too much caffeine or nerves before but now I realize it wasnt! That is why checking BG 3-4 times a day is vital!
