Guest guest
Hi , I am new to the group also; I am a type 1 for 47 years and use an Animas insulin pump. My cardiologist recommended the South Beach diet; I lost 13 pounds right away within 3 weeks on phase one of the diet. However I got really sick and my CDE was afraid it was a chemical imbalance. She said you have to be really careful on the restrictive phase one and should be taking supplements. She likes the phase two because the food is healthy and if followed along with your exercise, should help you to lose. Yes I agree that it's much healther than Atkins, but you have to be careful and check with your doctor with any diet. Also if you are on insulin or other diabetes medication, the amounts may have to be reduced, otherwise you will get into trouble with the lows. I am losing much slower now on phase two, but that is the healthier way. I also think South Beach is much easier to stick with than some other diets. Sybil ------------------------------------------------------------- Hey everyone. I am new to the group, I am 30 and was diagnosed type 2 a few years ago. I am having a hard time loosing weight. I have made many changes in my diet, but I know I could do better. I was wondering if any of you have had any success/failure with the South Beach diet? I hear it's way better than adkins. All opinions are welcomed : ) Hope everyone has a nice day...Oh yeah my last A1c was a 6 so things are going pretty good, and I excersize 3 nights a week and hike on the weekends. Best regards... ---------------------------------------------- Sybil & the Friant/Vaughn furgirls, Misty & www.sbvdrsilkycrsilky.com
