It is not easy for any of us, but I think you might be getting the double wammy! I think both cultures have especially high rates of diabetes and with diabetes, comes problems. You are wise to heed the warnings. Not fun, but necessary. ;-) I think it is good to make a switch to something that is easily found and readily available, like celery sticks, a few nuts (not too many - high fat content), carrot sticks,thinks that transport easily. There is a book called snack munch nible knosh that has lots of good ideas. Just remember to watch carbs, they are not your friends if you over do too much! Which of the pacific islands do you refer to? My dh is from Hawaii and we love the food! Lau laus, lomi salmon, rice, oh trouble now, made muself hungry! LOL Hope to hear more from you.
