Hi Joe, I am proud of the way you are working on this! As a recently

diagnosed diabetic, I went to the book store (library would be good, too) and

bought

a copy of Diabetics for Dummies by Dr. Rubin. Wow, eye opener! I knew

nothing really about diabetes before and this was such a good starting point.

Joe,

if you like to sweeten your coffee, try some splenda. The pourable forn (in

a box or large bag, not packets) is used just as you would use sugar. I also

recommend you visit Mendosa@... and learn about the glycemic index.

This teaches you which things turn to sugar the fastest in your blood stream,

thus raising your BG's. (blood glucose/sugar readings) I can reccomend sites

for recipes, but this should be enough for now. Remember, white food is not

your best choice now - white bread, rice, potato or flour. These will turn to

sugar the fastest. Ask if you need anything. Hugs, Marilyn

Hi Joe, I have left most of your message above, so I can refer to it. Joe, I

have heard of stevia, have not tried it. Splenda is so easy to keep and use,

and the doctors I have consulted with are so positive, I will stay with this

for now.

Thanks for your kind words, it is not in my mind to alienate anyone, simply

to add a blessing to their lives.

A bachelor, huh. Before my sons (and daughters) left home, they could all

hem their pants, wash their pants, iron their pants. This was so they could

wear their pants! I guess you get this? LOL I also taught them to cook just

enough so they could do it with grace, but not well enough they did not need a

wife! LOL I love my grandbabies!

As a single man, you would do well with simple recipes with a short list of

ingredients I would say. Try Jo Lund's book for RV'ers.

www.HealthyExchanges.com It is simple recipes, healthy, easy to prepare and

portion control.

She always gives pantry staple lists in her books, and for a young man like

yourself, we want you healthy for when you do find that special person! Okay?

Big hugs, Marilyn

You rock & rollers got it made - only a women can truly appreciate a

bass guitar all by its self.
