Feel free to give her my website address and my personal email address. I would love to help. She needs to at least switch to Avent bottles. Playtex are the worst for nipple confusion. She could even cup feed. It would be good if she could pump. Please let her know I am willing to help. I have AIM and can download ICQ if she wants to chat.

Hi ladies! I really could use your help right now. I have been bottlefeeding (playtex nurser kind) Haven since she was born last week. AtThanksgiving me and my mother had a discussion about it being best tobreastfeed her since she is so small and with it being winter and all soshe doesnt get sick. So since I still have been leaking milk I triedlast night to start breastfeeding her. I did get her to latch oneventually. I let her nurse for about 10 minutes and then burped her andtried to put her on the other breast. I never could get her to latch onto the right side. And I have only been able to get her to latch on tothe left side twice since last night so I have been giving her thebottle in between. I am sure it is probably nipple confusion. She rootsaround like she is starving and then starts screaming because she cantfigure out what to do. Anyone have any tips for me?! Also is 10 minuteson each side enough? Another thing- what are the do's and don'ts as faras things that I should be eating. Sorry for all the questions but Ionly breastfed Kenzy for a day because it hurt too bad. So I am prettymuch clueless on the subject.

There is no time limit on how long to nurse for. She definitely needs a pump for a while. Would be good to suck train--using little finger with nail down, encourage baby to suck on finger drawn back in mouth to the second knuckle (being at lips). When baby sucks well and relaxes jaw, try to slip finger out and replace with breast. Otherwise no pacifier, use breast instead--the sucking stimulates milk production.
