been doing it for 12 yrs, they should also know ,

Hi Deb

I hope I'm not too late to wish you well, we share the same surgery date

and although I am not travelling alone (a fellow bandster and I are going

together) we are staying only a short while (returning Sunday) and we have

a very long train journey to contend with, although in some ways this is

better as at least we can move around quite a bit.

Thank positive, I'm sure you will be fine.

You have no idea how glad I am to read your posting. The Band is also

giving me more esteem everyday. It is allowing me to battle my feelings

Hang in there, in your heart you know what is right for you, for your

daughter, have the strength to follow your instinct. The older I get,

the more I realise that when I deviate from my inner instincts I make

mistakes, and it seems to be the same for almost everyone I talk to.

Several years ago I was going through a bad patch and a friend of mine

gave me some very sage advice. She said, go find a counselour,

therapist, whatever . . to talk to, to use as a sounding board. Save

your friends for your social life, you will need them. Don't burden

your family too much. They will have a very difficult time forgiving or

forgeting if you decide to get back together with him.

IN the meantime, we are all so proud of your weight loss and we are

" rooting " (sorry ) for you.

Big hug,

Suzanne

WAY TO GO STEPH !!!!

I don't think I have had a size 13 on in 15years ! I have a pair of

size 10 Calvin Kleins that fit me for about 10 minutes that I have

religiously moved from place to place for the last 17 years. You never

know when they might fit again and they are practically new !!

Congratualtions.

Dear Fellow Bandsters, as i sit here belching (passing my gas - through my

mouth) and feeling the full, pressure below my rib cage, i wonder how many of

you have the same physical symptoms? as the days go by i am almost welcoming

my visit with the doc from the facility where i work to discuss some of the

questions i am just recently thinking about. namely, why does my head NOT

tell me when i am full? why is it that i eat (mostly too much) and stop

because i have the pain under my ribs or feel sort nauseous this happens

sometimes when i have eaten even a small amount compared to what i had in the

past. i am wondering if what i have read (or head) somewhere is true...some

people who are obese do not get the full signal because the nerve endings are

located at the TOP of the stomach and fullness is never truly reached because

the stomach has been so stretched. therefore, we (I) tend to overeat

resulting in the obesity? it seems, that if this band has taught me nothing,

i have learned to " listen " more astutely to my body and after a year (post

surgery) i am still learning the power of the band. good luck to all of our

new bandsters. OOXXOO

Dear Deb, Thanks for your reply. My Doctor is stein from Long

Island. I only had my consult with his nurse practitioner yesterday. They had

me watch a film, and read and sign a lengthy consent form. I go again next

week. I am eager and nervous to get this done ASAP.I have a BMI of 35.5 but,

was elibible due to hypertension. One worry is that I do have a hiatal

hernia. I see by some of the reading material that you can't have one. I hope

that this didn't get my hope up for nothing. I will be so disappointed if

they tell me I can't have the banding done. It sounds like a Godsend. Thanks

again to everyone for my warm welcome......

Hello Deb,

Would you please relate your entire experience to me?

:0)

I want this surgery and will go to France or Mexico to get it!

Thanks!

Welcome Elaine. We are so glad to have you here! How do you feel about being

a candidate for this surgery? May I ask who your Dr. is? I am pretty new being

banded May 5, in Monterrey Mexico. I love my band and the effect it is having!

Hope I can be of some help...ask those questions!

Terri, again with the ice machine...sounds so good. Thinks we need to have a

daiquiri party at your house....wonder if they have sugar fee rum....

Fondly to all!

Hi Kathy,

I mentioned a textbook article in the above post that might help your doctor.

It really doesn't approach it from a pediatric level, but I think is a good

basic description of the disease. There is also a link on Joys site to a page

about EG on a Pediatric Database. I am sure that if he did a search he would

find lots of information that was over my head so of no use to me but would be

meaningful to him.

Judy

P.S. As for this list, I doubt there is anywhere else in the world that has a

group this large of patients with Eosinophilic Diseases.

Judy,

Thanks for the info. I am anxious to get it to my ped. I have a dumb

question, is Joy's site within the hyperlink you sent to Donna. I went

on and found several sites, can I assume hers is one of them?

I often see people on this list throwing up as part of the symptoms of

this, but they never specify what they throw up. Whenever my son has a

reaction, he throws up a ton of clear mucous and the food that he just

ate isn't even in it. Is that what everyone else who throws up does?

Thanks so much, to everyone for your help.

Kathy (Luke's mom, milk protien, soy protien " intolerance " , previous

intestinal bleeding until put on Neocate, other food " intolerances "

sweet potato, potato, broccoli (just the other day learned about that

one, my ped doesn't believe me), chicken)

Dawn,

He didn't believe me about the broccoli. He said maybe he didn't like

the texture. I told him that Luke threw up the clear mucous after

eating it. Then, he asked me how do I know that LUke is allergic to

milk. I said because he throws up 6-8 oz. of clear fluid after he has

something with milk in it. Then, he said something about needing a

clinical confirmation of that being a true allergy. I told him it never

came up as a true allergy (there was no IgA response). I tried to

explain to him that is what is unusual about this disease. We were

really going back and forth. Then he said he wanted some more

information on this, so my husband is going to pull together some for

him and I have a couple of things from this list for him. HE also wants

Luke to see a pediatric immunologist. I know it all ties together, I

would just think another visit to the pediatric GI would be more

practical.

Thanks.

Kathy-

AJ has bouts of throwing up clear mucous also. It usually happens during an

asthma attack. I just read in the Food Allergy Network Newsletter that it

is probably a food reaction that triggers asthma. I had been suspecious

that a food was involved. I don't know if this information helps you or

not. AJ was throwing up food, but now it is mucous these days. Phyllis

Kathy,

I've been hearing the mucous-vomiting thing for three years now of parents

of IEE kids. Mine did it too, especially Kody. Your doctor can certainly

call Hugh Sampson, MD at Mt. Sanai. He's the " allergy expert " on eos

diseases. Any allergist has heard of Hugh Sampson.

It is really frustrating trying to be between allergy and GI. I'll

certainly keep the list updated after my meeting with the head of allergy

research at NIH. Of course, they are always searching for " true " allergies,

and not necessarily GI disease that they can't prove a definitive allergic

connection.

The whole thing about has me going nuts. I'm really hoping the national

exposure (one million readers) on our story will help bring some people

together on the issue. I'm going to MAKE Sure that one of our web addresses

are in the article so any of these docs or researchers who have anything to

add can get to us.

Steph.
