Guest guest Posted June 12, 2004 Report Share Posted June 12, 2004 Gloria, I am 6 weeks post op myo and doing great. I still have tenderness in the tummy but have gotten most of my energy back. My surgery took 4 hours but went well. I am 50 years old and I did check out uae. A friend of mine had it and seemed to be doing well altough she was in a lot of pain when she first got home from the hospital.. My fibroids were quite large, two of them were 12cm. My symptoms were never so horrible, just a growing belly. heavy bleeding day 2 of my period and crazy peeing patterns. The uae doc said that we could try this procedure but that because of the size and vascularity of my fibroids that the percentage was higher that the procedure just might not work or because of the vascularity that I might go into instant menopause( which happened to another friend). I did not want to take these chances . I wanted to keep my uterus- iI guess Im just attached to my body parts. But I just wanted to go thru one procedure. I chose myo afnd a good doctor, and I didnt take any Lupron or any other drugs. Dr. West said he got out all 20 fibroids and I believe him. I dont want these things to grow back. However, in the last week I think I have eaten enough chocolate and popcorn and junk and pastrami and vodka cocktails that if a fibroid deceides to form, its got all the right stuff. Anyway, if I had beeb a strong candidate for uae, I might have gone for it. I know that I went crazy until I got to see all the docs and made a decesion.
