Sonja,

Thank you so much for your message (#49608)! Your support and shared

experience really help! It just helps so much knowing that others

have been where I am and can offer some words of wisdom and support.

I hope to be able to return the favor to group members in the future.

You had asked a few questions about my situation, so I'll just follow

up. I realize that this thread could be removed to personal email,

but maybe someone reading this thread will find some help or info in

it.

" I am surprised that your doc did not find any submucosal fibs during

your

diagnostic hysteroscopy. Do you have an intramural fibroid that is

growing

through your fundus putting pressure on the uterine arteries? Do you

know,

does your surgeon know, or will your abdominal myo be diagnostic as

well? "

Yes, this sounds more like my situation (sorry for the misuse of

terms). Based on the info I was able to provide

(sonogram/radiologists' writeup), my surgeon seems to believe that

this is the situation, so no, the myo is not meant to be diagnostic.

As for the original hysteroscopy, the doctor who did that (different

from the myo doc) seemed to be looking for something in the uterine

cavity. And recall, she perforated my uterus, so she did get a few

photos, checked my tubes, but didn't really explore the curveture

into my uterine cavity.

As for the hysterectomy release, I was so freaked out by the end of

last week that I asked my surgeon's assistant to fax all consent

paperwork to me for review. So far there is no hysterectomy release

form, which is a relief. Although there is a vague " additional

procedures may be carried out as considered necessary for my well-

being...for conditions not known at the time the operation commenced "

statement in the general consent form.

However, I feel strongly enough about " no hysterectomy " that I've had

to think through how to have this conversation with my doctor

tomorrow at the pre-op appointment. For me, this is the fear that

beats all others -- going in for a myo (with one known fibroid) and

waking up without a uterus. I've even considered writing up my

wishes and having my husband hold on to the document in case of

emergency. I know I'm probably being a tweak about this, but I can't

help it. Who said fear is rational ;->?

Arrrgh. Looking forward to the end of the week when (hopefully) all

will be resolved.

Anni
