I am trying to arrange my airline ticket early. HI Maggie and others interested in the Women's Retreat weekend - We are going to have to abandon doing our Retreat at a real Retreat location. I hoped that idea would work as it would be a bit less $ than a hotel and provide a beautiful nature setting but these places just aren't that accessible. The Reteat in Tampa said it has handicapped rooms but it turns out they aren't truely accessible. I found out the toilet doesn't have enough maneuver room for someone in a w/c and so a guest has to go offsight to use a real toilet! Gee! I was then hot on a Retreat near Orlando but Lois emailed me to be extra careful about Retreats and when I looked more closely, I saw the beds are bunk beds and they are in small rooms. I guess we could use the lower bunks but there really isn't much space for all our devices. So................................ I am now looking at hotels in the Tampa area and I'm still focused on the weekend on Oct. 13. But now I need to re-check on our w/c situation. The Best Western, which is just a couple of miles from the airport, has 2 accessible rooms. That's not many but I realize that some people who use a w/c don't use it 100% of the time and are ok with a regular room. So, for the w/c ladies: I need to know if you must have an accessible room or if you are ok with a regular room. If we need more than 2 fully accessible rooms, then we have to find another hotel Rooms at this hotel are $75, which is pretty good and some of you want to share so that's even better. We'd have to all share the cost of a function room for our use plus our meals. I'd like to get this set so people can make their plans and so we can plan the Retreat Agenda. Sorry this is taking a while as I research stuff but I'm trying to do this so that it will work for us. thanks Kathi Quote
