Guest guest
Hello everyone, I have a fibroid the size of a volleyball or a 7 -8 mo pregnant uterus. I have known i have fibroids since i was about 26 yrs old and i am now 48. I have followed them closely. But recently went to a dr for GERD and i told him i thought maybe my fibroids were pushing on my stomach. He felt the mass and ordered a CT Scan (which is not the best for fibroids) well it came back that i have very enlarged uterus and another large tumor and they could not tell where they were coming from so i should be checked for ov cancer. The doctor that ordered that report was a Gen practioner that I only saw once because my regular gener prac was out that day. I was referred back to my Gyn who of course knew about the fibroids, but he referred me to a GYN Oncologist for further testing even though he said " they still feel like fibroids " . Well of course he gyn oncologist and every GYN I have seen have recommended a total hysterectomy because of my age, the size of the fibroids and since i'm not having more children. Since I am not feeling any major sickness other than heavy periods the 1st 2 days (which has been my norm for about 15 yrs) Pressure from the enlarge uterus and some back pain that is relieved with advil. They feel like fibroids to the doctors but the can only tell if they do a hysterectomy is what I'm told. I definitely don't want a hysterectomy since I'm not in any major distress from the fibroids and I feel I'll have more or bigger problems from the surgery. I am soooo confused. Any comments would be appreciated
