ANYWAY, I CURRENTLY LIVE IN GERMANY, MY HUSBAND IS STATIONED HERE BUT IS CURRENTLY IN IRAQ. I STARTED BLEEDING A YEAR AND A HALF AGO, THOUGHT MAYBE IT WAS STRESS. I WENT TO MY DR HERE AND ASKED TO BE SENT TO A GYNO, HE DECIDED NOT TO. SENT ME TO HAVE A ULTRASOUND, I CAME BACK FOR THE RESULTS, HE SAID IT WAS NOTHING. WELL HERE WE ARE A YEAR AND A HALF LATER, STILL BLEEDING. I GO BACK TO THE CLINIC HERE AND SEE A DIFFERENT DR. SHE ASKS ABOUT THE STEPS THAT WERE TAKEN BEFORE. SHE CHECKS MY ULTRASOUND REPORT FROM A YEAR AGO AND YEP I HAVE A SMALL FIBROID, POSSIBLY MORE. WELL I AM TICKED OFF AT THIS. WHY DIDNT THE OTHER DR TELL ME THIS. WELL LAST WEEK I WAS SENT BACK TO HAVE A SECOND ULTRASOUND AND IT LOOKS LIKE I HAVE ONLY 1 VISIBLE FIBROID AT AROUND 2 CM. I HAVE AN APPT WITH THE OB/GYN ON THE 4TH. I HAVE READ THAT MOST OF U LADIES HAVE MUCH LARGER FIBROIDS AND MORE THAN MY ONE. I JUST GET A LITTLE FREAKED OUT BECAUSE I DO WANT KIDS. I KNOW IT IS POSSIBLE TO CONCEIVE WITH FIBROIDS, I HAVE HAD 2 MISCARRIAGES IN THE PAST. I WAS JUST HOPING SOMEONE WOULD HAVE A LITTLE INFO FOR ME. THANKS, APRIL

Guest guest
A month before I became pregnant at age 34 is when my first fibroid was diagnosed. I went for a well women exam in preparation for trying to get pregnant. Gyn said I had one fibroid. He said I might have difficulty getting pregnant, but there was no way of knowing. Unfortunately I never knew the size of the fibroid and this was 13 years ago. Became pregnant very first month we tried at age 34. My ob/gyn sent me periodically for special ultrasounds to more closely monitor the growth of the fibroid during my pregnancy, so I imagine it was of enough concern for him to at least keep a close eye on it. I remember that it grew, but not to the point of causing problems. I had a vaginal delivery with no problems. We decided to only have one child. I was told by my ob/gyn to follow up to make sure the fibroid reduced in size. I don't recall ever doing this and this was a mistake. Sorry I can't be of more help. I wish I knew the size of my fibroid when I became pregnant. Hopefully others will have more information for you.

Hi April, My friend had a vaginal laparoscopic myo 3-4 years ago when she had bleeding problems. She said it wasn't a big deal and the bleeding problem stopped. She did have some difficulty conceiving, though she always had irregular cycles. She did a stint with Clomid and then finally did IVF in September and she's expecting twin boys any week now. She's had an uneventful pregnancy without any complications. Make sure you take care of any resulting anemia from that bleeding by taking iron supplements, anemia can interfere with your fertility. Guest guest
Good point, Ann, about being tested for anemia (as well as all your iron indices). I was shocked to find out I had iron-deficiency anemia earlier this year. I thought one would have to have much heavier menstrual bleeding than I was having in order to be anemic and it never even crossed my mind. At that time they ran additional tests for other possible sources of bleeding and all came back negative. An iron supplement should be taken only if your physician determines you need iron because they prescribe a specific dosage and schedule according to your needs, monitoring your progress with periodic blood counts. An overload of iron is equally as unhealthy as too little iron. Meg
