Guest guest
Hello everyone, I have not been here in awhile but have a question. My soon to be 13 yo non-verbal " autistic " son has been having a problem wetting himself the last year or so off and on(usually at school) He has been potty trained since age and has had no problems previously. The last couple of days the teachers took him to use the bathroom 10-15 times each day and he had 3 " accidents " both days. His doc did a urine test and found no infections, but said he had " ketones " which indicates not eating for long periods, which is certainly not true of . His doc also asked me if he drinks alot of juice. I told him I had increased his Vit. C bc he had been " sniffling " . He said the vit. C could be making him urinate excessively. Has anyone else heard of or witnessed this? Thanks for any replies, Lindy Are Moria and Andy Cutler still here?
Guest guest
Signs of Fatty Acid Deficiency Excessive thirst Frequent urination Dry skin Dry hair Soft or brittle nails Dandruff Rough, dry and/or bumpy skin especially on the upper arms and legs Most of the kids on the spectrum have metabolic abnormalities. However, I would follow up with the ketones in the urine. Just to be sure, due to the increase in diabetes among the autism population. I am working on putting my boys on the new SBC diet, and trying to balance their PH. I know that another critical issue is adrenal insufficiency. These kids are often in a fight or flight mode due in part to the adrenal issues. I work with a new DAN doctor who believes that adrenal testing is very important. I know that an adrenal panel will provide a lot of information. I am planning to collect saliva on my son. Wish me luck! In many cases the cortisol levels are out of balance, and elevation in cortisol depresses the mucosal immunity especially in the gut. I think a key factor for my son is to balance his adrenals so that he can be relieved from this constant stress mode, which I believe is a contributing factor in depressing the GI immunity. He has chronic yeast, bacteria, and parasites. We have to make the environment less inviting to these bugs!
Guest guest
Did he test for diabetes? If he is urinating excessively, eating a lot but having keytones, those are all symptoms of diabetes. I would suggest a test to rule it out. My grandmother had chronic bladder/kidney infections for several years and her nurse practitioner put her on a few 1,000 mg of vit C to prevent infections, but she has never complained of frequent urination.
