Guest guest
Jean, remember that just because we have fibroids they are not the cause of all of our gynecological problems. In my case I had a D&C February 2003 during which 2 polyps were found and removed. My heavy bleeding stopped at that time. There had been times when I had to leave work because I could not control the flow. Since then I have had about 3 periods (I am 52 years old). I have been bleeding now for 8 days. This is the longest I have bled in a whole year. I am going through about 3-4 pads per day. My annual gyno appointment is March 3. I am hoping I will have stopped by then. I have never had Lupron but it sounds quite scary to me and from what I have read there are real experts in the field who do not use it. When your Dr. told you the side effects were temporary did he also mention that the benefits were temporary? Please get a second opinion, 3rd, 4th, whatever it takes to find someone who will help make life more livable without doing a hysterectomy if you don't want one. I strongly believe that it is the woman's choice and too many doctors are quick to make it for them. It may help to post here what city and state you live in. Some of the ladies may have experience with doctors in your area. I am still walking around with my fibroids and have apparently added another one in the past year, this at a time in my life when I thought they would be shrinking or at least not multiplying. Good luck, P.
