Guest guest
When I had my vaginal septum removed, I had sex for the first time four weeks later. Awesome! So much better. I had dissolveable (spelling?) stiches so I did not have to have anything removed. We were just waiting on the stiches to dissolve so they would not snag or anything. 28/UD > > Background: Hi Ladies; It's been a while... I am only an > occasional user of this board. Guest guest
Hi Jen D., I hope you're starting to feel better after your surgery. I had the same procedures in early October to correct a T-shaped uterus and the lap corrected an 80% closed tube near the fimbrea. I also had to have a balloon catheter for 12days following the surgery. The normal time frame for the catheter is more like 3-5days but my RE considered my reconstruction to be pretty severe and therefore wanted to play it safe (I had incisions in all three walls of the uterus). I also had to take 6wks of premarin followed by 10days of provera before my 1st cycle. My post-op instructions said no sex for 2wks, but we waited 3. After the fun of the catheter, I needed a little more time to recover. Plus I was a little nervous, I was afraid that it would be painful. Much to my relief, everything was fine. The only change that I've noticed since the surgery is that the first couple days of my cycle are much heavier; having to change tampons every 1-2hrs. My 1st post-op cycle was really bad, 7 very heavy days and 2 more normal days. The nurse said it was normal because of all the hormones. My 2nd cycle has been shorter - 2 heavy days, and 2 light days so far. Oh, but one good thing, my cramps have been virtually non-existent!!! Here’s to a happy, healthy, fruitful 2006! I was at a pre- IVF appointment last month when they found a uterine polyp. When we decided to remove the polyp I decided to have my vaginal septum resected while I was under anesthesia. Then my doctor suggested also looking in my belly button (laparoscopy) to confirm my mullerian anomaly diagnosis and I agreed, with the potential that they would `fix' anything they could... (I've had an MRI, fluid contrast ultrasound, HSG, and I think something else I can't remember. I was told I most probably had a bicornuate or possibly a didelphus uterus.) So, my surgery..... I have been very sore! I have 3 laparoscopic scars on my abdomen and stitches in my vagina. I saw my doctor 1 week after surgery when she removed the laparoscopic stitches and looked at the outside of my vagina (no poking around) and said everything looked fine so far. I have another post-op appointment 4 weeks after surgery so she can perform a more thorough exam to see how things look. (scary, but I assume I'll be feeling better then.) Question: My doctor told me no sex for 4-6 weeks after surgery, or whenever I feel up to it. How long did it take for others before they felt ready for intercourse? Thanks in advance for any responses. P.S. My surgery has supposedly helped my fertility diagnosis. I should not have any higher risk of pre-term labor than any other woman. As soon as I am feeling better we are going to start IVF. Yeah! (I have some other hormone issues and my husband has low count.)
