The best source of info is to go to the www.sirweb.org site (society of interventional radiologists) and find a certified board member near you. Then you can consider asking women here, or on the embo group (also here on yahoo) if anyone would like to make a personal referral. I found my IR last year in March via that website. There were 2 in my area. At the time they shared an office. I talked to their Nurse-Practicioner (who was wonderful!!!!) and booked an appt with one of them. Then, I posted his name on 'embo' to see if anyone knew him. At the time, one of the doctors who posts on embo responded to say that my proposed doctor was a very good guy. My own experience meeting and talking with him was so positive and reassuring - so very much not like what typically happens when you talk to your gyno, who (best case) wants you to watch and wait or (more likely) says you need a hysterectomy, now. I am writing this message also because today is my 1-year anniversary of my UAE. I had it because I could no longer live with my urinary/pain problems. I did not realize that there were other symptoms as well (that became apparent once they went away.) My experience with the procedure was fabulous and I had total symptom relief. best to everyone here in their personal journeys to resolve their fibroid (and related) health issues. laurie g.
