Guest guest
http://www.canoe.ca/NewsStand/TorontoSun/News/2004/03/13/380402.html Hi. I'm posting this link to an article from the Toronto SUN newspaper. There are more detailed articles in March 13 Toronto Star and The National Post but I couldn't find the links. A Toronto area gyn's licence was revoked for incompetence last week by the Ontario College of Physcians and Surgeons. He's been under investigation for some time. One of the key reasons for the action by the College was its finding that the doctor had pressured patients into unnecesary hysterectomies, and other unnecessary procedures and had botched the procedures he subjected his patients to. The College based its decision on the case histories of 47 of the doctor's former patients. In addition, 350 women are involved in a class action lawsuit against the doctor and the hospital where he practised. There is a website for the class action which can be accessed by keying in the doctor's name - Wai-Ping. The worst part about this is that this guy has been practising since 1992, and there were complaints about him as early as 1995. It's so sad reading the victim impact statements. He is reported to have done hysterecomies on women in their 20s and mislead others by telling them they would die without having hysterectomies. Despite all this, his lawyer was arguing aginst the impostion of the revocation of his licence on ground it was a " professional death sentence " and can apparently re-apply for his licence in a year.
