Guest guest
THANKS to those who wrote again !!! HOWEVER, my fear is NOT about surgery ... I guess none of you have ever had my problem. Continuous dry gagging, as if i am throwing up....(nothing comes up) after i wake up.... ONLY water stops it. This could be serious . The surgery feels like nothing compared to this. I will try going without before surgery to see if i can do it. But i am recovering from a cold, so i can't try it yet. It REALLY upset me this morning because i gagged til i drank water. I spoke to a nurse friend who told me sucking on ice chips is O.K pre-surgery. .. she said they tell you nothing at all, for fear that you will interpret 1 sip for 1 GLASS of water. I have 2 weeks to figure it out, and hopefully my cough will be better. i will consult with medical people. i don't want to call my doc. about it yet, because i don't want to be a pain. i will call his nurses about sucking on ice, and swishing water around in my mouth. i think they already said no to sucking on ice. If i carry a water bottle with me i won't panic as much. I wonder if they would allow a Xanax the night before, or if that would make me thirstier...!!! thanks again for all the help and advice.
