Guest guest
Hello Jeanne, I wish you well in finding your new doctor. It's too bad we have to rely on insurance companies to regulate which doctors we see. I don't blame you for wanting to pay out of your own pocket to see the best of the best. I did that a few years ago because at that time my doctors thought I had adenomyosis, not fibroids. So I went to an endometriosis specialist who did not accept insurance. Fortunately, my insurance company reimbursed me later. You might ask about that. You asked how long I was on Lupron before my resections. I was not. I took Lupron for three months prior to an ab myo back in 01/2000. I took continuous bc pills before and during my resection surgeries. My doctor wanted the endometrial lining to be thin, and this is the case with being under the influence of the pill. I was asked if I would try Lupron again, but I really made it clear that it was not my first choice of treatment. And my doctor did not want any more time to pass before surgery got started. I was so severely anemic, I could not afford to lose any more blood by going off the pill and onto Lupron. So I did not have any successful drug therapy to shrink my fibroids for the resections. This may be another reason why I had to have three surgeries. The first was in September last fall, then November, and the last right before Xmas. My doctor wanted those fibroids out of my body so my blood levels could rise rather than plummet. When I took Lupron (once for surgery prep in 2000 and the other time for 3-months just to shrink the uterus in '01) I noticed it took me about six weeks until I began to bleed after the last injection. So hopefully your body will give you that much time too before your next period. Good luck my dear. Please keep us posted as to how you are feeling. Blessings, :)Sonja
