I have a huge fibroid - size of a watermelon one doctor told me, size of a

football another told me. Anyway it is 20-24 weeks in size.

My long-time gyn. wanted to do a hysterectomy but I would not agree to

it. She said she would try to take away only the fibroid (which turned out

to be four fibroids amounting to this huge size) but she did not think she

would be able to do it and wanted me to sign a permission letter for a

hysterectomy just in case. She is a reprod. endoc.

I then went back to the obgyn I used 15 yrs ago and he said he would not

consider doing a myomectomy. He said that with all the problems I have had

he would recommend a complete hysterectomy. He said that I could grow

another one after this which might need surgery.

I am 52 years old this year and still not in menopause. There is one hitch

with doing surgery - or repeated surgeries - and that is that I have a

tendency for my blood to clot. On the other hand, I want to be done with

all these problems. I have had about three laperoscopies, about six D&Cs

and one myomectomy over the last 15 years.

I have had this present fibroid for over three years. It has wrecked my

life! I have been on Lupron eight months now and the doctor says I can't

stay on it any longer. I was off it for six weeks and had a horrendous

period. That was it! I can't take this any more. I am back on Lupron but

can't stay on it.

I would prefer not to lose my uterus but I am out of doctors! I don't even

know if I can save my uterus with a fibroid this size or even if it is wise

NOT to have a hysterectomy, given the fact I could grow another.

As my doctor said, if my body would just go into menopause, that would

resolve everything but it is not cooperating.

If anyone can recommend another doctor in this area, I would be

grateful. I don't know what else to do and I have to do something.

Hi,

I had an MYO in early February with Dr. Elisabeth Quint (who came highly

recommended by a friend of mine who *hates* doctors) at the Gyn/Ob office

at University of Michigan's Hospital. She is wonderful and the office is

great (especially considering it's size).

Hello, your tumor sounds like the same size as my. The doctors are telling

me that the tumor and uterus are the size of 20 weeks. I am going today to

talk to an IR to see if this procedure would work for me. I will let you

know what he tells me. I have done the Lupton and had a myomectomy and the

tumors have come back. I am just hoping that this treatment would work for

so I won't have to a hysterectomy. I am only 35 years old and I feel that I

am too young to have a hysterectomy.
