Guest guest
Hi. I'd suggest a book written by a retired urologist from UCLA called " You Don't Have to Live With Cystitis " which contains a wealth of information about urologic health issues. I just saw a urologist and am being scheduled for urodynamics. If you'd like to share urology notes feel free to email me privately. Gerri > > OHHH, one thing I almost forgot. Guest guest
Have you had your thyroid checked? Hypothyroidism can definitely cause tiredness. When I was initially diagnosed with my fibroid, I also requested a thyroid test since I was tired all of the time. I mean real bone-tired. Didn't feel normal. Well, that test came back ok, but here I am a year later and I'm now testing positive for hypothyroidism. It's really common in women and way underdiagnosed. They started me on Synthroid 6 weeks ago and I can already tell the difference. My sense is that I was slightly hypothyroid way back then at the first test, but not enough to throw me into having an abnormal result. When I first saw the endocrinologist, he said that my thyroid's basically been going downhill for the past 10 years. That explained the tiredness. I'm now slightly anemic, so I'm taking iron for that. That makes me tired too. But the Synthroid really helps. Hypothyroidism is really a hormonal imbalance. Well, since fibroids are caused by a hormonal imbalance (albeit different hormones), it kind of makes sense that hormones gone awry in one area could mean that they've gone awry in another area as well. Just an idea.
Guest guest
I have been tested for anemia and that came back normal the doctor had me assigned for a ultrasound at a clinic and desided I have the ultra sound done at the hospital instead, Why I don't know . But I have a questions Can the fibroids it self make you always tired sence I am not anemic, I get a lot of pressure onto my bladder when I lay down and on my side . then the pressure makes me have to go to the bathroom again, and again. several times a night. Why was my doctor concern with the pains in my legs that I never mentioned. any one whom may know of these please let me know
Guest guest
Hi, hope everyone is having a great day. Yes Roma, it's Tarheel again…..got to worry somebody…j/k. However, you can call me Connie. First, I do want to thank everyone who sent me emails and responded here on the list regarding my post #47781 (Pain?). All of it was so helpful and I was able to use some during my recent check up. It's always nice to let the doctor know you're not completely stupid. Thank you all again, and thank you Carla for this list. Ok, I was waiting for my check up to post a reply. I had my regular check up with my GP on the 20th. I told him about the horrible pain I have been having in my pelvic area. Therefore, he ordered an ultrasound, transvaginal included. I had this done last Thursday, 22nd. Oy, the pain that woman put me through. The first two transvaginals, (one before this was Oct. 2003), I had were pain free. Could it have been the person performing the procedure that made the difference, I don't know. Was the techie doing this last one more thorough?? My doctor's nurse called me with the results Friday morning. Get this!! She informed me I had a benign " thing " in my uterus. That's all she would tell me. I swear, those were her exact words, because I have the report in front of me that hubby picked up from my doctor's office. She also told me my ovaries were " ok. " Forget about talking to my GP, that is just something he does not do, unless I pitch a crying fit..... even though he charged me $167.00 for my office visit. If it were not for the fact that he's nice to me during my office visits and he's gotten me through panic attacks, depression, flushing that I have endured all my life when I talk to ppl (I'm a social phobic) and he was there for us when hubby had his accident, and is on hubby's side when it comes to helping hubby with disability ppl, I would be hunting. However, when I go back in 4 weeks I will let him know the least he could have done was given me more information instead of letting me think I could be dying. Who knows until I have an MRI on Tuesday. I have to be there at 7:10…….a.m. ….ack…… I hope this doesn't tick anyone off but I would like to post the ultrasound report for comments from anyone. FINDINGS: UTERUS: 9.0 x 5.7 x 5.6 cm, volume 149.0 cc. This is similar in size to previous study of Oct. 27, 2003. ENDOMETRIAL STRIPE THICKNESS: Normal, 0.25 cm. No endometrial mass or fluid collection is seen. MYOMETRIUM: On the previous study there was a heterogeneous myometrium with an area which was called probable uterine leiomyoma. We are unable to demonstrate a definite uterine leiomyoma on the current study but there is a heterogeneous appearance of the myometrium. This most commonly is associated with adenomyosis. MRI is more accurate for diagnosing this process if you wish to further evaluate for adenomyosis. CUL-DE-SAC FLUID: None LEFT OVARY: 2.2 x 1.2 x 1.9 cm, volume 2.5 cc. This is slightly smaller than on the prior study when the volume was 3.1 cc. At the time of the previous study the left ovary was felt to be normal in appearance. On the current study the left ovary showed no evidence of cyst of mass. RIGHT OVARY: 2.8 x 1.6 x 2.5 cm, volume 6.0 cc. This is very slightly larger than on the previous study when the volume was 5.3 cc. There is an abnormal hypoechoic area involving the right ovary. This was also present on the previous study. On the previous study this hypoechoic area with internal echoes measured 1.7 x 1.4 x 2.1 cm in diameter. On the current study it measures 1.7 x 1.2 x 1.7 cm in diameter. It has no color flow within it. No cul-de-sac fluid or no tubal abnormally is seen. IMPRESSION: we were unable to identify endometrial abnormality or uterine leiomyoma at this time. There is a heterogeneous appearance of the myometrium which can be associated with adenomyosis. Pelvic MRI is most accurate for diagnosing this process by imaging. No abnormality of the left ovary identified. There is a hypoechoic abnormal area within the right ovary which appears similar to the previous study of 10/27/03. This is not a simple cyst because it has internal echoes. It also does not have focal increased posterior acoustic enhancement although there May be a small amount of this. Since there is slight increase enhancement posteriorly I would suggest that this may have some fluid within it rather than being totally solid. If this has fluid within it it is felt to represent debris. This could be associated with a hemorrhagic ovarian cyst or an endometrioma or inflammatory lesion. However it has been stable since the study of October 2003 which would favor either a slow growing or probably benign process. Apparently the patient is having left lower quadrant pain. Laparoscopy could be considered for additional evaluation. I cannot exclude slowly growing neoplasm. Whew….. Needless to say, I am scared. I know, I know…..wait on the MRI, see what info it provides. I mentioned my mother in my previous post, she had bladder cancer, but she actually died from a cancerous mass in her pelvic area. I have flashbacks of her suffering, from age 52 to 59. I am 48. I have the best support a woman could have……my dear sweet husband, but there are still times when I am all alone and those little demons make me think bad things. I tried to measure the size of my uterus. Am I wrong, this seems to be about the size of a pear? Call me dumb, but which is your left and which is your right ovary? I'm thinking right would be like if I raised my right hand, but that is not the side that hurts the worst and the most. Both sides hurt but the report says my left ovary showed no sign of cyst or mass. My left side hurts the worst and most. I was told when I had my babies that my uterus was tilted and my ob was surprised that I even became pregnant. My son was 7 months old when I became pregnant with my daughter. So much for that. I'm still told that my uterus is tilted at exam time and also it has dropped some………forgot the correct term. Mystery: Before my ultrasound, almost every time I ate a meal, soon after I was off to the bathroom with watery stools. Dining out was no fun at all. This has been going on for quite a while, mentioned it to my dr., got a hmmm from him………grrrrr. On the morning of my ultrasound (Thursday) I had a banana for breakfast. I cannot remember the times I had to run to the bathroom before I left for the hospital, too many. After the ultrasound (remember I had transvaginal too) I DID NOT have a bowel movement until Saturday afternoon. Had another on Sunday afternoon, somewhat normal. What gives?? Am I going crazy?? Could the techie have moved things around which was pressing on my bowels??? I'd better stop for now, I know I have more questions. But I have probably given Roma a lot to think about, lol. I really need that pillow. Hoping everyone has a little less pain or anxiety today. Hugs to all. Connie
Guest guest
Hi, I also have fibroids, had them for years, and did the wait and see thing until now that they have grown and am now looking into a myo. (this would be my second one, had one in 1990), Reading your e-mail, in regards to the tail bone pain issue, about 2 years ago I had terrible tail bone pain every time I sat down, and especially when I got up from sitting a while, I never associated the pain with the fibroids, I thought it was because I am a very thin person (at that time my weight was 114lb, I'm 5.5 " ) after a while (months) it just went away, I never went to the doctor about it. But now that you mentioned it....I wonder.....could it had been related to the fibroids???? ......Interesting..... Good luck to you.
