To pokergirl:

I was diagnosed with fibroids 2 yrs ago and had been on b/c pills for 20

years too. I have heard some say that b/c pills contribute to the growth of

fibroids. I asked the doc this and he said there was no way of knowing. Some

women who never take the pill get fibroids or cysts. I had a UAE 15 months ago

and resumed taking the pill after the procedure. I am now thinking of going off

of it, but now my periods are so good.

I have been on BC pills and the coorelation b/w them and fibroids is

that it increases the growth of fibroids. I'm speaking of birth

control pills w/estrogen. Fibroids feed off of estrogen and many

doctor's and specialist I've spoken to agree.

I don't have personal experience w/ovarian cysts and the pill,

granted I have 2 of them in my right ovary but I don't pay too much

attention to that situation right now b/my fibroids are much more of

a hassle. I do have a friend however who suffer from ovarian

cysts, she's had one grow to the size of a golf ball and had it

removed and now another one has grown to the same size yet again.

She, is still on the pill her dr. changes the type of bc pill she's

on very often due to breakthrough bleeding and heavying bleeding for

month's at a time.
