Guest guest
Edie From my understanding, after a UFE, a fibroid can only grow if it has found a new blood supply or maybe the 2 arterys were not embolized successfully or enough. I don't understand why it would shrink than grow again. My IR said it's always possible for a new fibroid to form also. But if your herbs are working, than well thats a good thing! Jen > Dear Ladies: > I have a follow up appointment with my gyn on Mon., 2/23. Last week, I posted that my (previously - via 9/03 ultrasound) 11.7 cm. fibroid had shrunk to appx. 8.5 cm. in my recent (2/9/03) ultrasound. Does anyone know if a fibroid can first GROW after UAE, then shrink? Has anyone had this happen, where a fibroid grew after UAE, then eventually shrank? This would help me understand why, since I had my UAE in 1/03 (10 cm. fibroid), it grew to 11.7 cm. in 9/03, then I started taking many herbals & supplements, including Vitex, DIM-Plus, Maitake Mushroom capsules, Shiitake Mushroom capsules, double-dose Flaxseed Oil, double-dose Vitamin E, etc. around 12/03, and now the fibroid is only 8.5cm?!? I will ask the gyn for her opinion - however - this is my " second opinion " gyn whom I first saw last year when my " first " gyn recommended hyst. This " second opinion " gyn also recommended hyst (I live in a rural area of upstate NY where the doctors are ALL still pushing hysts for almost anything/everything), but I challenged her, back in 11/03, and asked her to let me come back 3 months later to see if I could shrink this little bugger on my own. So, to make a long story short, I'll post on Monday after my visit, but if anyone has had UAE only to have their fibroids first grow, then ultimately shrink, I'd really appreciate hearing from you! > Thanks, Edie / NY
