Guest guest
To Soy or Not to Soy....well it depends on which school you believe. Suggest you keep an eye on your thyroid though. Guest guest
Hello , I believe everyting in moderation as it seems that there is something negative about everything out there. Recently I read that yogurt and cottage cheese are not good for your ovaries and have something to do with their processing. Geez.....it seems you read something about everything. I have heard the negatives of Soy as well and here is an interesting article http://thyroid.about.com/cs/soyinfo/a/soy.htm So my motto is " Everything in moderation " . -- In uterinefibroids , " nlstudebaker " wrote: I know this might be a women's health issue, not necessarily a fibroid issue. Guest guest
I know I'm being a bit vague on this one, but I also thought soy and flax were excellent for me. I just love soymilk and at 1 time even replaced it with milk. Then I hear that soy and flax may feed estrogen which can be bad for us women with fibroids! From what I understand, fibroids can possibly come from the imbalance of to much estrogen and not enough progesterone in the body as the women is in her 40's (perimenapause). I am very confused on this and not quite sure what to do. Jen But I am wondering what you all think about soy and soy products? Guest guest
Dear ; In February this year and probably about a month before I started not being myself. I didn't notice anything wrong until late February when I was totally nuts. I had just been to my naturopathic doctor who had me doing a hormone test. ( I had to spit and put it into some tubes for about a month through my cycle.) I called my nutritional therapist and she told me that my estrogen levels were way off the board. (She didn't need the spit test) Anyway she said to get off the soy and flaxseed. Of course no coffee, or sugar either. She also had me taking an extra vitamin B complex and two calcium in the evening before bed. It has taken about 2 weeks but I am beginning to return to normal. I am also 46 and I have fibroids and I am in that perimenopause stage. So you are not alone. I do not know your system but if you could find a naturopathic doctor and/or a Nutritional Therapist (if you are in Seattle Washington I can recommend mine to you) and see what they say. I wish you the best of luck and you are in my prayers. Thanks Cathy > >Reply-To: uterinefibroids >To: uterinefibroids >Subject: Soy and Soy Products >Date: Sat, 27 Mar 2004 07:53:21 -0000 > But I am wondering what you all think about soy and soy products? Guest guest
Hi Jen, My naturopathic doc told me to use flaxseed. Flaxseed is a good plant source of Omega 3's. She told me to stop using soy products (including Revival Soy which is the stuff that Northrup recommends). These recommendations were fibroid related. My thyroid problem wasn't discovered until later. If you did want to avoid soy it would be difficult to do anyway. In checking labels, almost everything has soy in it, so it's really hard to avoid. Something as simple as mayo is made with soybean oil. I pay a lot more for mayo made with grapeseed oil, but then I avoid soy like the plague. Even so, I will use tamari (soy sauce). Enjoy your soymilk but don't fall into the Revival trap. It's too high in genistein and daidzein which are the " soy estrogens " .
