Guest guest
Suzanne asked about Dr. Glassner.... I've known of a few women who have had good experiences with Dr. Glassner. An acquaintance of mine, about 8 years ago, was told " You need a hysterectomy IMMEDIATELY. Don't go home, check into the hospital now!! It looks like cancer. You might die if you don't treat it immediately. " Luckily, she was smart enough to question that. She was referred to Dr. Glassner. She went down from NYC to see him in PA for a 2nd opinion. He basically told her " You have fibroids. You're not in any discomfort or pain and since you don't have heavy bleeding, there's no reason to do any treatment, unless you want to. It is NOT cancer. There is no need to rush; your fibroids are not about to kill you. " I just ran into that friend today, for the first time in years. I asked her how she was doing. She said she has not treated her fibroids at all and is happy with her current state. The fibroids have not grown and obviously he was right that it was not cancer, or she wouldn't be around today. She's close to 50, so I would guess she might be holding out for menopause. She did say that if she does need treatment, Dr. Glassner does accept her insurance, which I believe is one of the Aetna plans. I'm not sure if anybody I know personally has had surgery with him, but my friend's experience was very encouraging. And much as many of us here are not big fans of the HERS Foundation, I do believe that the few doctors who they consider worthy of referring are among the better doctors around. I think some women on this list have had experiences with him too; check the archives. R.
