It's possible that you might not lose much blood during your myomectomy. Many

myomectomies do not involve much blood loss at all. One of the polls for this

group asked " Did you require a blood transfusion during your myomectomy? " Nine

women said yes, and 56 said no.

Some women lose less blood during a myo than they do when they donate blood.

When you donate, you give 1 pint (about 450 cc) of blood. I hope that your myo

is similar to mine. I lost only 20 cc of blood during my myo, and I did not

need a transfusion.

I must have lost a lot of blood during my myo, 3 weeks

ago. Does this mean that my dr. was unskilled? I have

been very worried about this, after reading about some

of you, who did not have any blood loss. Should I be

worried he did a bad job??? My blood count was low to

begin with, at 11. He will not even want to tell me

what it was after surgery. I was extremely anemic,

could barely stand up. He said I should have been

transfused, but didn't, because he does not trust the

blood supply. I am taking giant iron pills and getting

stronger every day.

It could mean that your doctor is unskilled, or it could mean that you had an

unusual situation. I originally read about your predicament in The Fibroid

Place on the Delphi Forums. When I read your post-myo message on that forum, I

wondered how much myo experience your doctor had. Some of his pre-myo

statements made it sound like his myo knowledge and experience were

questionable.
