Hi!

I am a 45 yr. old, 2 submucosal fibroids (2 cm in size) 1 intramural

(no tx on this one) and 1 subserosal fibroid for the past 2 1/2 yrs.

I have been on Lupron -6 doses and just started Megace to control the

bleeding. I am divorced, 0 children, wish to conceive (I never give

up hope in that department!)

I was scheduled with Dr. Glassner in Bryn Mawr to have a

hysteroscopic resection of the 2 submucosal fibroids. I was going to

be a self pay patient and had to cancel because I could not get enough

money thru my bank to finance the surgery. I wanted to go to the

best. I have an HMO, but they would not pay for Dr. Glassner.

I saw another female gyn-ob doctor in my HMO network. She seemed

fine. I heard locally she is a good surgeon. At my office visit, I

asked her how many of her myomectomies turned into hysterectomies and

she said none. I got a fairly decent feeling about her. She took 1

hr. to talk to me during the consult and she understands my reasons

for wanted to keep my uterus.

Should I have the surgery with her? Or should I wait and save my

money to go to Dr. Glassner? Any feedback would be appreciated.

I am on sort of limited time. Maxed out on Lupron (had 6 months

worth) and it is time to make a decision. I want to keep my uterus!

Thanks for your help and information.

Jeanne
