Guest guest
{{{Warm hugs}}} and applause for NYC's LOL who naturally won the contest to " Meet-Up with each other and Carla Dionne. I'm so happy & darn proud of NYC that I'm sending $100 today to support " the Party " , oops, I mean the 6/19/04 NYC Meet-Up! I wish it could be a $1,000 or more. I would also invite anyone else who can pitch in a donation--small medium or big to support the NYC 6/19/04 Meet-Up. I'm making my check out/sending it to: National Uterine Fibroids Foundation P.O. Box 9688 Colorado Springs, CO 80932-0688 Donations can also be made online via the Donate button at the top of the www.NUFF.org If there is a possibility that ABC's 20/20 includes the NYC Meet-Up in a future segment on Women & Uterine Fibroids, women across the country can contact their local ABC affiliates and ask them to do a local story. One Meet-Up generates the potential of more " women with fibroids " stories across the nation. Also, check out your local ABC TV affiliate's Health Section of their online website. Many of them are outstanding and could archive a story that women could later access. We love you NYC LOL's!!!! Please let us know how it goes so we can plan other Meet-Ups across the USA, provide support, info, & networking--and then invite the local ABC affiliate, to join us for an info session..with a reference to ABC's 20/20--one of the best Shows that I don't miss... Hey Pat---see what you started? Cheers everyone!! Where do you book for your group in NYC. I have another web based support group that would like to get together for the first time in the Fall of 2004. Looking for ideas for good hotel rates. This group is a patients forum for an unrelated health topic. We are very excited about meeting, but are very new to the planning for a group of about 30 people as well so far. Would you be you willing to help us get started? Please E-mail if interested. thanks
Guest guest
Hi , Congratulations to all of you who plan to get together in NYC this fall! I could offer a couple of suggestions: Are there any reasonable Event Planners in NYC, especially familiar with hotels, transportation, restaurants you could contact? Is your group working with a particular medical specialty/doctors in the NYC area? Perhaps their particular dept may be able to coordinate with the hospital to host you in one of their conference rooms/provide suggestions for hotels, transportaion, restaurants nearby. Possibly, depending on the medical condition, the specialists/hospital might be amenable to sponsoring your group & doing a Public Relations campaign to get the word out. Same as above for a University Hospital or a University with a medical school doing research on your health condition that might be willing to provide a venue for the meeting, help with PR and work with your group to do a couple of press releases on the topic. If you are more interested in remaining independent & meeting as patients, there is the Meet-Ups option that list member Pat Boersma introduced on uterinefibroids. Do you have any good ideas for fund-raising, grant writing and any other way to support women who wish to meet? Let us know!! This is so important but probably considered off-topic / but I don't want to take this off the groups because more expertise may be out there / then maybe we could all go to a designated date/time on this groups chat link or email? Anyone else...help! Best wishes to all of you and your groups progress! Marsh > > Where do you book for your group in NYC.
