Guest guest
It is pretty crazy that they are so stingy about the MRIs when it comes to uteri. People get them all the time for gastric disorders but evidently once they get an ultrasound with a mass on it in the uterus that's enough -- the doctors can just feel around and get them all. Right. How many women here have gone in for surgery and had the largest fibroids, the ones on the back, etc. left in because the doc thought they had them all. Then there was the story of my sister who had an ab myo a year ago in March for pelvic pain and while the surgery removed her 3-4 fibroids they missed the dermoid cyst on her ovary. She still hasn't had that out yet, still has pain and they still aren't sure what is causing it. She regularly gets large ovarian cysts. She was on vicodin for pain but they've got her on something new now that seems to be working well for her. There was a case in Oregon where a woman wanted UAE/UFE and Blue Cross turned her down. The case went to court or something and Blue Cross retroactively grandfathered people in, based on a report from 1999 or so describing the efficacy of that treatment option for uterine fibroids. I believe Dr Goodwin was involved with the report. I think this helps to establish precendent for insurance companies accepting UAE as a treatment for fibroids which might be leveragable in other states. Portland healthcare providers I've heard are very UAE aware as a result of all the coverage about the case in the news media. I heard it from an IR who moved up here to Seattle from the Portland area in the past year. Ann > Fight with them!!!!!!!!!An MRI is one of the better > ways to see something. If my first idiot Dr had taken > the photos and MRI into the operating room with him > maybe I wouldn't have had to find a new Doc who did > take the MRI into the operating room to do the surgery > right > My insurance company required some prompting too to > okay the MRI but they did after hearing from the Drs > me and more
