Hello all.

I am so glad to have found this group.

I wanted to introduce myself before I got to reading all the back

posts I can.

My name is Kristi, and you can call me either Kristi or Storm.

I was diagnosed with fibroid tumors after my 2nd miscarriage, back

in 1997.

I kept on having horrible pain and I kept having to pee. My cycles

got out of line after going off birth control 2 years prior to

fibroid

symptoms. I took birth control for contraceptive purposes when I

was dating my now husband.

Well, I made the decision to " save myself " until my wedding night,

so now I am kicking myself in the patootie for taking BCP. LOL

I desire to keep my fertility. Even though doctors love to label

me " infertile " , even though I've been pregnant twice, I do not feel

I am, as the 2 times we tried to get pregnant, we did.

We have no living children as of this post.

Even now, I have 30 day cycles, but we haven't been trying to get

pregnant, because I'm concerned of a 3rd miscarriage.

I have 2 intramural (I think that's the word, however, that sure

sounds like a sports term...LOL) fibroids...they're in the wall of

my uterus.

One was about golf ball sized, the other was the size of a large

marble.

The doctors discovered my fibroids after doing exploratory surgery

thinking I had endo, because I was, in their words, " WAY too young

to have fibroids " .

April 1st, I will turn 30. I have known I have had them since I was

23.

So, we've done the " wait and see " method with me now for 7 years.

I'd like to have a baby, thank you. LOL

I did have a round of Lupron, and it IMMEDIATELY corrected my

cycles, shrank my fibroids, and I felt the best I had in years. I

did not have any of the negative effects I've heard about with the

medication. Even my mood swings were gone.

From what I know from 2 years ago, my fibroids are back to the size

they were before the Lupron from 4 years ago.

I also am supposed to have PCOS on top of everything else. However,

only 1 doctor has diagnosed this, so I'm going in for a second

opinion.

Current symptoms: HEAVY bloating when it's time for cycle. About 2

weeks before cycle, I gain about 10 pounds in water weight. I have

horrible menstrual cramps during my cycle, the doctor says that's

the fibroids.

If so...I wonder how long I've had these? Even when I was bone

skinny, I always had a little " pooch " belly. When I gained 80

pounds in 6 months 9 years ago, it was blamed on hormonal

imbalances, and then the PCOS and fibroids have been to blame, too.

Now, one last " kicker " . I developed EXCEPTIONALLY early for my

age. I wonder if that has anything to do with it? I got my breasts

at 5.5 years old and my cycles started at 7.5 years old. Hmmm...

Anyway, there's my fibroid story in a nutshell. LOL I can't wait

to get to know you all, and lend support when I can.
