Guest guest
Hello all, Well, I just got back from s Hopkins where I had an MRI and met with Dr. Kim, who's running a clinical trial on Focused Ultrasound treatment for fibroids. Here's my update for the group: I didn't make the cut. (So to speak.) The MRI (with contrast) was remarkably quick and easy. The staff was very helpful, particularly the technician who put in the catheter. It only hurt for a minute, as opposed to hours. Had to wait a while for the consult with Dr. Kim, as he was covering for two other doctors, but when we finally did speak, he was very straighforward. He told me that because of the number of fibroids (I counted six, I think) I would not be a candidate for the Focused Ultrasound Trial. He did say he thought that embolization would work well for me, though. Either that or hysterectomy. So at this point I'm thinking I'll probably go for the embolization after I go over the results of the MRI with my Gyn. Weirdest part? Seeing pictures of my uterus looking like it's full of golf balls. So that's my story. --
