Guest guest
Wendee I’ve never heard of cancer hiding in between the fibroids - maybe it's just how they phrased it. -- Some docs do try to tell patients that the fibroids might BE cancer (sarcoma -- which is incredibly rare) – or that they might TURN INTO cancer (which they don’t do).-- However, most of the “cancer scares” are just that in my opinion: scare tactics. Too often they seem to be used by docs who are trying to get you to do what THEY want to do – For info on gynecological cancers generally, I’d start by reading H. , M.D.’s book “A Gynecologist’s Second Opinion” which has several chapters on the subject – plus the great chapter on fibroids. – There are many websites for each of the possible types of gyn cancer. On line, I'd start w/ Medline - for general info on gyn cancers -- : http://search.nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/query?DISAMBIGUATION=true&FUNCTION=search&\ SERVER2=server2&SERVER1=server1&PARAMETER=gynecological+cancers Also the NUFF website gives information on cancer statistics. Endometrial cancer can be easily checked for with endometrial biopsy – a quick and simple office procedure – though some women find it highly uncomfortable. (In my opinion a few seconds of intense cramping is well worth the trade-off of knowing the results & I find accupressure diminishhes the cramping to just about zilch for me). As for sarcoma – it CAN be differentiated from fibroids on MRI (see below). - for more info go to the archives & here are some posts you can start with: Dr. Bill ’s post #33624 on differentiating fibroids from sarcoma (Cancer) with MRI. http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/uterinefibroids/message/33624 My posts Nos: 42198 - http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/uterinefibroids/message/42198 And 45316 - http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/uterinefibroids/message/45316 And Dr. Bill ’s response to my 45316 -- #45365 - http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/uterinefibroids/message/45365 Best, Pat _________________________________________________________________ Stop worrying about overloading your inbox - get MSN Hotmail Extra Storage! http://join.msn.com/?pgmarket=en-us&page=hotmail/es2&ST=1/go/onm00200362ave/dire\ ct/01/
