Hi, Jan:

In light of the change in bleeding you've been experiencing-- if I were you,

I'd ask to have a pelvic ultrasound done NOW. In the months since your myo,

you could have developed a new submucosal fibroid or even a polyp, which is

causing the increased bleeding.

Remember--it's OK to speculate, but it's best to EVALUATE!

As for the bleeding taking place in the shower. Ah, yes--that was my

experience, as well, BEFORE I had any kind of fibroid treatment. I used to

wait--up to

twenty minutes in the shower, waiting for the bleeding to abate, so I could

safely step out and dry myself. Gave new meaning to the term " bloodbath. "

I think the explanation for excess bleeding in the shower is simple. Remember

First Aid 101? Heat (as in the warm/hot water from a shower) causes our blood

vessels to open widely (dilate), increasing blood flow. Cold constricts the

blood flow and helps decrease bleeding.

As for the shortened cervix, did you have any reports of dysplasia before or

at the time of your myo?

Hi all,

I had surgery in Nov. and at first my periods were shortened (3days)

but now I am having 9-day long periods...just plain unusual bleeding,

like in the shower or pool where that never happened before.

I'm not anemic and very glad I had the procedure but wondering why

the long heavy periods?

I had the normal for me 5-day periods before.

Also, had another doc tell me my cervix was shortened due to my

procedure but all is feeling better than normal there so not sure

what that means but myo surgeon says " it's just your anatomy " but my

anotomy used to read normal on the reports.

Thanks for any info. JanG
