Guest guest
First of all, best wishes to everyone who has surgery or UFE coming up soon. I had successful myomectomy in December and it helped me tremendously to read the stories of those who had gone before. Here is a way to " give back " to NUFF and enable NUFF, and Carla and all her wonderful helpers, to continue to maintain the support and information we get here. NUFF is an all-volunteer, shoestring operation. I asked my coworkers, friends and family to donate to NUFF instead of sending me flowers and chocolates (though I also told them that no good chocolate would be refused!). I asked for some feedback from a couple of good friends before doing this -- Is it nervy? Is it morbid, since you usually hear of this kind of request only when someone dies? They both were very positive about my making this request (though neither of them donated, so who knows ;-). So I sent around an e-mail explaining what NUFF is and how it helped with my decision-making process. Anyway, there weren't as many donations as I hoped for, but the total was $200 which made me very happy. If you decide to do this, ask your potential donors to indicate when they send their donation that it is at your request, and then ask NUFF or Carla to let you know who has donated so you can send personal acknowledgments.
