Guest guest
Hi Cathy, rather a sensitive question & if you want to e-mail me privately, that's fine... When you say you are doing a self exam, I assume you mean a digital exam, where you would normally feel your cervix with your finger(s). Have you been diagnosed with fibroids by a doctor? Are you sure you have a fibroid that is growing into your vaginal canal from the lower part of your uterus, or cervix? I'm sure this is not unheard of but it would be unusual. So here's my sensitive question -- I do self exams now & then too (including with the mirror and speculum, a hopeless holdover from the womens health movement in the 60s and 70s, I know, but I think this is a good thing to know how to do, what's wrong with knowing what your cervix looks like? etc. etc.). Anyway, it sounds to me like -- maybe?? -- you could be feeling your cervix, which does feel hard (almost muscular). And the " laceration " might be the os, or opening, which might bleed a little if you are around ovulation, or there are many (non-serious) reasons for the os/cervix to bleed very slightly when touched. So I hope it doesn't offend you if I ask about this, in the great spirit of helping each other out that you get on this list. Anyway, if you haven't seen a doc I would encourage you to do that since any unexplained vaginal bleeding really must be checked out. Best of luck to you, Sunny > I have a fibroid that I can feel when doing a self exam...The reason > I am concerned is because it feels like a laceration is on it and > that spot when touched leeks blood..I am wondering if anyone else has > experienced this.
