But it's all too true that in the hands of a less-than-skilled-and-experienced surgeon, a myomectomy can result in a significant loss of blood, and in some cases so much blood is lost that the surgery is converted to a hysterectomy. Remember, the doctors who spoke to us at " Opening Doors " are among the top in their field. In their hands, a myomectomy is a much safer operation than the same thing done by a run-of-the-mill MD.
