Guest guest
Hi all, I had a open myo on 5/3, just about at the 4 week mark. I have noticable 'pouching', as a physical therapist just called it -- my abdomen cuts in distinctively at my scar. She believes I've already developed some excessive scar tissue, which could lead to adhesions, etc. She has instructed me to gently rest my fingers on my scar for ten minutes a day to encourage stuff to break up. Today, I have a noticable low-grade ache to my lower right and some mild swelling, which I've been experiencing sporadically. I've tried not to lift over 10 pounds during the past month, but have probably slipped a few times [my arms aren't scales, after all]. I've increased my overall exercize, have even walked slowly up some gradual hills [which the PT said is OK], and maybe I've 'overdone it' {though I'm not sure}. MY QUESTIONS: HAVE ANY OF YOU RUPTURED OR HERNIATED ANYTHING IN YOU POST-MYO RECOVERY? How soon into your recovery? What did it feel like? Was it caused by excessive activity? Did you need surgery or any other treatment? IS THIS 'POUCHING', ACHING AND MILD SWELLING STILL NORMAL AT WEEK 4? HAVE ANY OF YOU SEEN A PHYSICAL THERAPIST OR OSTEOPATH IN YOUR RECOVERY TO INSURE HEALING? Did it help? Please reply directly to: tygerstar35@.... Thanks, gals. I'm kinda scared and freaked out, and don't want to end up in the hospital again! Wishing you all health and peace--- R. Guest guest
Hi , no P/T for me. Call your doc's office if you're worried. I had myo in November and still swell up a bit when I do excess lifting and get the numbness back. I don't know what you mean about pouching but the ache part I had and just noticed that it's finally gone... was especially noticable when I got my periods. I still have little reminder pain if I cough (allergy season) but it's not a biggie. Oh- also had a weird pain down there that my dr. said was adhesions and now thats gone too. I think your surgeon would be best to answer your questions as I had some way painful bowel issues after surgery and a local ER doc was convinced I needed surgery to remove a blockage...turned out to be trapped gas:) Best wishes, JanG---
