Ablation is NOT a treatment for fibroids as it does not remove

them. It may help with your bleeding, but your fibroids will still

be there. There have been many posts on ablation and you can search

the archives to read them. You can get to the group web site from

Hi Barbara,

I had an endo ablation last October. I have one big fibroid that is

in the uterine muscle. Sadly, the ablation was not successful. I

continued to have periods and every one since the ablation has been

heavier than the one preceeding it. January's period had me up at 5

am changing bed sheets and showering. Going thru the ablation was

easy for me. No problem. It's worth a try, but keep in mind that an

ablation is dealing with symptoms, not the root of the problem.

While I say that, I continue on that path in an effort to avoid

surgery. I took my first Depo Provera shot two weeks ago in an effort

to stop the bleeding. Again, I'm working with symptoms. I'm almost 49

and my gyn and I are trying to buy time in an effort to hold off

bleeding until I hit menopause.

Barbara,

Endometrian ablation is not a treatment for fibroids! Are you

sure you have confidence in your gyno? How do you know it's not the

fibroids causing the bleeding? Ablation is very very effective when

someone is bleeding but if there are fibroids involved, it is not a

fibroid treatment. You may have this done and still bleed. My

fibroid grew 10cm and I was having extreme bleeding and

hemmoraging. It was definately from the fibroid. If I were you I'd

get a 2nd and 3rd opinion, along with more research becuase this

does not seem like a normal protocall.

HI Barbara,

I am 46, and have multiple fibroids also.

I am recuperating this week after having my endo ablation on Monday.

The procedure went well but it is a wait and see game. I am hoping

that I will not have any more bleeding but time will tell. I was on

the b/c pill continuosly as well taking up to 4 a day to stop

bleeding for over a year. Then I finally saw a specialist and my gyno

put me on danazol to stop bleeding all together to prepare for the

ablation as the b/c was far too much estrogen and not working at

all. My gyno has great faith in this procedure and has had a lot of

success with his other patients. I can only hope that this

works...for a while anyway. Good luck to you and stay in touch on

this site.

I had an endometrial ablation 5 years ago. I don't know if I had my fibroids

then, as the doctor had said I didn't, but the ablation cured my painful,

gushing periods. I haven't had any periods since then! I love it! I only had

bleeding once for about an hour a few years ago... due to stress. Every month

when I ovulate, I have a teeny amount of blood, not even enough to wear a panty

liner. I hope you have similar success!
