Guest guest
Hello Everyone, I was told by 2 young woman OB/GYN's that I needed a Hysterectomy for my single 4x4cm fibroid -- no other options were given to me. I am only 37 and all of my aunts and cousins have had hysterectomies for fibroids at my age and it changed them all physically and emotionally (and not for the better). HRT makes most of them sick too -- so they seem doomed to spending the rest of their lives struggling. I had been so upset until I discovered this website because I want my husband and sons to continue to have a nice, happy wife and mom (well, most of the time anyway :-), I just want the tumor out. I ordered 11 books from Amazon.com on fibroids and educated myself. I went to Mayo clinic in Rochester and I am now enrolled in the test study of FUS. I have seen it mentioned here and am wondering if anyone has had it done and if it was good or bad for them. My procedure is this Wed. 5/19, I know I should have asked this sooner. Thank you all for the kindness, toughness when necessary and especially all the information. I believe I will have a much better future because of you all. Thank you, Swieringa Minneapolis, Minnesota
Guest guest
Hi , I had FUS at Brigham & Women's on Jan. 20th, 2004. It's been almost four months and I can still feel my big ol' (10 cm. last I knew) fibroid. I have a small frame and am bothered by the fact that when I lay on my back it bulges out like I swallowed a large grapefruit. It looks really funny. My symptoms have improved some what since the procedure. My back pain has eased a bit. But I am going to Boston this week to discuss further options with my doctor, and ask her thoughts about my progress or apparent lack of... Emotionally, I have been through quite a bit lately. My brother died in March and my brother-in-law was killed in a motorcycle accident last week (age 45). My neice and newphew are 22 yrs. old and 20 yrs. old and it is heart wrenching to see the pain they are suffering. Good luck with your FUS procedure. I wish I had treated my fibroid when it was smaller, I think the procedure may have been more successful. ~
