Re:back from new york, six days post myo with Dr. West-ne

Hi all,

I came home yesterday from New York after having my surgery last Tuesday.

All I can say is that Dr. West is great and my surgery went extremely well. I

saw Dr. West for the first time last Monday and found him to be the most

compassionate understanding Doctor I had ever met. The surgery on Tuesday took

four

hours, and as Dr. West had predicted I had substantially more than 7

fibroids. In fact, I had approximately 20 intramural fibroids with two the size

of

melons. I had Dr. West take pictures of the fibroids and I do have them. Dr.

West did use the cell saver that was mentioned by some in the group before my

surgery.

Dr. West encouraged me to get up and do things. On Thursday, when I was

discharged, I did very little. On Friday, I walked 11 blocks and went to the

Producers on Friday nite after my husband lucked into great seats when he went

to

the box office on Friday afternoon. Don't misunderstand, I do have some pain

and am taking Vicodin, but I am extremely happy and satisfied. I went to see

Dr. West again on Friday afternoon, and he and I were thrilled by my progress.

I had no nausea and by Thursday I was a eating regularly including a

Pastrami sandwich that my husband brought back from the famous Katz's deli,

where

the hysterical scene from When Harry met Sally was filmed.

My husband was very supportive and helpful, and it would have been far more

difficult if I didn't have him there for assistance and for running certain

errands. I'll write more later, but all I can say is that anyone who is

thinking

about using Dr. West should certainly go ahead and do so. He is a fabulous

Doc and his Secretary was also terrific. I am very lucky that I was able

to use him. By the way, I did lose weight.Thanks to all for support.
